Felt 3-Revisiting the Styletron

Is it me, or does it just take a while for some songs and albums to grow on yout.  I promise you I used to skip this song everytime.  Monday, I just started vibin to the snares, bass, and the song in general.  Music is weird like that sometimes.

I just love this song, it’s not new or anything, but it still makes me wish I wasn’t so damn stiff so I could’ve been a bboy.

Henrietta Longbottom

From the felt 3 album, Henrietta Longbottom has become a recent track favorite for me.  The grimy beat reminds me of an old funky wu tang beat weith a twist of Aesop.  On this track, Murs and Slug exchange paint brushes as they truly paint on the same canvas.  The story is about “Henrietta Longbottom” and all the rumors that are told about her.  It is a song about rumors and how sometimes it can be mistaken as the truth even when the people who have spread these stories don’t even know the person they are talking about.  “I never really met her but I know it’s all true, I never seen her either, but my brother say she cool…the ones in your circle that don’t even know ya, the same ones that circulate the stories for ya.”
