Suicide Jimmy Snuffa by Hand Over Fist.

I haven’t listened to Rhymefest in a while, he used to be one of my most listened to emcees. It’s funny how fickle we can be with our music sometimes. Not saying that there’s anything is wrong with Rhymefest, he is really dope, it’s just some other cats caught my attention I guess.
Danny!-Sloppy Joe, Pt 2
It’s nice having some music that’s freethinking and juvial; but still not stupid. I like Danny!, I listened to his entire album and I have to say that I was quite pleased. It’s ultimately a fictional album that just lets Danny! explore his creative side and lay it all down on wax.
I heard he got Boooo’s at a Drake concert he was oppening for, I’m just going to assume it’s because he’s not what’s “hot” right now.
What do you think of the song and of Danny!?
Do I just like a whack artist?
2009 was an excellent year for Hip Hop, not only did we receive highly anticipated albums from successful artists like Jay-Z and Eminem, but we also experienced the successful emergence of break out artists like Drake and Wale.
However, for those who keep their ears to the underground world of Hip Hop, 2009 was about more than hot catchy singles, music award nominations, and the release of Blueprint 3, it was about the soul of the underground being brought back to life. Most of those who support the underground Hip Hop scene cannot recall the last time an onslaught of phenomenal music was released at this pace. Not only did we get to experience Raekwon’s successful release of Only Built for Cuban Linx 2 and the return of the god emcee, Rakim, we were also treated to a diverse array of well crafted albums from the new school.
While most people into Hip Hop were listening to anything produced by Young Money or Gucci Mane, underground Hip Hop heads were tuning into the soulful sounds of Brother Ali or the roaring “boom bap” of Diamond District. The Mos Def we all knew from Black on Both Sides was also reintroduced to the world with his phenomenal album The Ecstatic, filled with body tingling beats and fresh rhymes, making it one of the highlights of Hip Hop. Anticipated albums such as: Felt 3 and Montezuma’s Revenge were released later this year, making 2009 an all out successful year for album releases of Hip Hop.
The downside of 2009 is that we didn’t receive many albums from DJs in order to make the cipher complete. Exile released his album, Radio, which has garnered some attention to the California DJ; and we also saw the reemergence of legendary DJ Peanut Butter Wolf with 45Live. .
All in all, 2009 was a good year for the underground scene of Hip Hop. We have experienced creativity from artists burst throughout the game on many different levels. Furthermore, we have also seen the reintroduction of classic and alternative Hip Hop into the rap game. One can only hope that 2010 will be as eventful.
